The HR and Business Services function ensures that the Company is staffed appropriately and that the right level of support is provided to facilitate business continuity. The function comprises Human Resources, Information Technology, Communications/PR, Office Facilities Management and Administration staff.

The HR team is responsible for the recruitment, deployment, development, motivation, retention and reward of high calibre personnel with the ability to contribute positively to the Company’s objectives. A high level of attention is paid to the ‘person to job fit’ to ensure alignment between individual and organisational expectations to create a winning formula.

Fairfield’s IT systems are designed to maximise uptime, reliability, efficiency and disaster recovery. A storage area network (SAN) provides redundant storage and asynchronous data mirroring between our sites. Virtual server technology provides the hosting platform for high availability application servers which run all the business applications. As IT evolves, Fairfield continues to evaluate and test new software and technologies for the benefit of end users and the business.

The Communications function ensures the effective flow of information including external Public Relations activities, support to Stakeholder Engagement within the Greater Dunlin Area Decommissioning Project, and internal Workforce Engagement Initiatives. The establishment of collaborative partnerships via Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are also managed within the function.

The Administration and Office Facilities Management teams handle a wide variety of support needs from the provision of secretarial assistance to office services. This high level of professional support ensures that managers are fully supported administratively to enable maximum focus in their core areas.

Nicola Gillespie, HR and Business Services Manager comments, “Fairfield is a people-focused organisation that has adopted employment practices to ensure that the Company is not only staffed with high calibre professionals but that those individuals are nurtured and supported. The transition to a decommissioning focused organisation has presented new and exciting challenges for our staff who are motivated by the opportunity to apply their expertise in an emerging area of the industry at such an early stage. We were proud to be announced as OGUK Awards winners in the Workforce Engagement category in November 2017 for our important efforts in this area”.
